John Robert Darin II

John R. Darin joined the McConnaughhay, Coonrod, Weaver & Stearn Law Firm in April of 2025. He is Board Certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in workers' compensation law and has over thirty years of litigation experience.
He has handled a multitude of cases from minor workplace injuries to more complex matter involving industrial exposures, occupational diseases and death claims. In the early part of John's career, he was a member of a legal team that reduced the workers' compensation costs of a client by 48% between 1979 and 1983. Between 2015 and 2024 John was part of another legal team that challenged fee schedule stop-loss for in-patient hospital bills in Florida that resulted in savings of over $30,000,000.00 for a client. In addition to his trial experience, John is well-versed in handling workers' compensation appellate matters with several published opinions to his credit. John has also served as a consultant and expert witness in workers' compensation cases.
John is admitted to practice in Florida and Michigan. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Detroit in 1976 after receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1972.
As a member of the Florida Association of Self Insurance's (FASI's) Legislative Committee, John worked with its lobbyist in recommending and drafting proposed legislation. John also served on FASI's Board of Directors from 1992 to 2010 and was editor for FASI's quarterly newsletter, The Update, for many years.
In addition to his many professional distinctions, John was awarded a Fifth Degree Black Belt in Karate in 2019. John has also completed the New York City and Detroit marathons.
